>>>There is one name of a person detained under the Patriot Act. Jose Padilla, the Brooklyn-born former gang member who was picked up at a Chicago airport three years ago by the FBI and locked in a military brig without access to a lawyer. Are there others? Perhaps but I am not privy to such information. Some people fear that people might start disappearing due to the Act.

>>Ok that's one. How many more? Surely if there were many more, we would be hearing more complaints.

>How many do you need? One American Citizen is jailed without a hearing. Is considered guilty and has to prove his innocence. That is one too many. No matter how despicable the guy maybe, he must have his day in court. If he's found guilty, then fry him. But his rights, and mine and yours have to be protected under the Constitution. Right now they're not.
That's the real problem. Too many people don't seem to understand that violating the rights of one, violates the rights of all. Too many people feel "it won't happen to me". I hope they're not wrong, but when and if it does, then I want to hear again how it's no big deal.
