>>Remember when the police couldn't just walk into a person's house without a warrant? Remember when a person used to be able to consult a lawyer if he/she were detained? Remember when they used to have to charge a person with something in a reasonable time or drop it? In fact, remember when they used to have to have a valid reason for throwing a person in jail - trials, judges, juries, that sort of stuff?

Nobody said living in a democracy was going to be easy. It has to be worked at. and the best way to work at retaining a democracy is not to allow your rights and freedoms to be eroded. What you are left with is no longer a democracy. The problem is that when all is said and done, all you are fighting for is the right to live in a police state. When you're living under curfew, and there are cameras and recorders in every room of everyone's homes, will that also be acceptable? Is there a place where you will finally draw the line, or do you simply accept the destruction of your constitution piece by piece, until the only right left is the right to pledge allegiance to the flag?
