>Nobody said living in a democracy was going to be easy. It has to be worked at. and the best way to work at retaining a democracy is not to allow your rights and freedoms to be eroded. What you are left with is no longer a democracy. The problem is that when all is said and done, all you are fighting for is the right to live in a police state. When you're living under curfew, and there are cameras and recorders in every room of everyone's homes, will that also be acceptable? Is there a place where you will finally draw the line, or do you simply accept the destruction of your constitution piece by piece, until the only right left is the right to pledge allegiance to the flag?
Alan, no one's talking about trashing the constitution here. You're preaching to the choir. But it's all those claims of us loosing our rights. Again, what rights have we lost because of the Patriot Act?
The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.
- Alexis de Tocqueville
No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
