Assuming they're upgrading to XP, try the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. I was pleasantly surprised (read: STUNNED) when I bought a new box and didn't have to do a single reinstall. All data was right where I intended it to be, email configurations, registry settings, etc., all of it was just right.
