Sergey's answer reveals the row limit if you are using standard Excel operations. However, you can bypass the 64K row limit if you load external data into an Excel PivotTable by directly manipulating the PivotCache object. I routinely use this technique and push 800K+ rows of data to Excel. Now the end users have a very nice query tool with built in graphics (Excel PivotChart [Excel 2000 and higher]), drill down capabilities and data filtering. I always say that one of these reports can be equivalent to many old reports in that the user can directly manipulate the results and they are not put off by a learning curve as there is nothing to buy and nothing new to learn.
