I wish I had known how you felt about ReFox's business practices before spending over $400 U.S. on an old version of the product.

After some communication with a Canadian Distributor, who offered some hope of a resolution last week (one of the messages earlier on in this thread), I was again told today "too bad you got hosed, sucks to be you". I was told some stupid, complicated story about Hallogram, some company called Xitech, and the Author and how they are not getting along. Bottom line of the story, we got screwed when we bought the old version of the product just before the new version came out. And there is absolutely nothing that any of the parties involved will do about it.

This will be the LAST copy of ReFox I will ever spend a red cent on. It is also the last product I will buy from Hallogram. As for Xitech, as a customer of Hallogram (where we bought ReFox), I had no idea that Xitech were even involved in the transaction until now. The Canadian Distributor, communicating the Author's explanation to me, blamed Xitech for this whole mess. I fail to see how Hallogram or the Author have zero responsibility here. I mean, since when does finger pointing have anything to do with customer service?! Here I am, still feeling ripped off. That's what I call piss-poor customer service.

The word needs to be spread.... businesses that operate like this deserve the negative reputation they are building. I hope other developers are able to avoid getting hosed like we did making this purchase!

>With each new release of ReFox, there are people that have this same complaint - it's been going on for years.
>Everyone here already knows how I feel about ReFox's business practices...so I'm just going to leave my comments at that.....

>>Just thought I would pass on a warning to anyone considering the purchase of ReFox. Time your purchase well! We purchased version 10 from the North American distributor this year. A week later, version 11 was released. Of course, when we bought version 10, we had NO idea a new version was about to be released. Since we were not dealing with an "emergency", we would have gladly waited the extra week to get the latest version.

>>We contacted the distributor who contacted ReFox -- their answer.... we would have to pay the upgrade price if we wanted version 11. Wow. Haven't seen lousy customer service like that in years. Buyer beware. Not the first time I have found myself in this situation.... just the first time the manufacturer's response was basically "aww, that's too bad you got hosed.... sucks to be you". Sure leaves a bad taste in your mouth!
