>May I ask honestly, what version version of Refox was advertised on Hallogram's site at the time of purchase?

Mike,

You know full well that I purchased version 10 of ReFox. Clearly that would be the version of the software that was advertised at the time of purchase. There was no mention during the entire ordering process that version 11 was about to be released.

To add insult to injury, I had not even installed version 10 yet when version 11 came out. Any other product, provided it had not been opened or installed, could have been returned for a full refund so soon after it was purchased. So I would have returned 10 and used the refund to buy 11. Especially since 10 had not been used yet. Oh wait, ReFox has 'special' terms when you purchase it - NO RETURNS!

ReFox 11 sells for $399 U.S. currently on Hallogram's web site. The upgrade from ReFox 10 goes for $199 U.S. I cannot find ReFox 11 anywhere for the price of $598 U.S. This is what I am being asked to pay to own ReFox 11. I fail to see how this is a fair price for ReFox 11.

It is normal practice when selling software to offer a grace period when a new version is released. This way, customers that make the mistake of purchasing the old version, just before the new version is released, do not get screwed by simple bad timing.

I use two other popular third party products for Visual FoxPro daily. Both these products have price points very close to that of ReFox. Yet, for the same money, I get an annual subsription to any and all updates to the software including new versions of the software. My company gladly signs the puchase orders every year to renew each of these subscriptions. Talk about a revenue stream for the companies that sell these products!

So when I compare my customer service experience buying ReFox with that of just about any other software product I have purchased, its not too difficult to figure out why I feel ripped off.

>>If Jan Brebara wants to recover some of the damage to his name and product, then his first course of action should be to take care of the customers who feel they were screwed in the process of purchasing HIS product. Regardless of how the heck (substitute whatever word you want) the customer managed to acquire HIS product. In correspondence with me, I was told by you that Jan Brebara is saddened by the situation I found myself in when purchasing HIS product. You told me that he could not compensate me for something done by Hallogram/Xitech. I have not requested a refund. I have requested the version of the product I should have received given the timing of my purchase. What cost is there to Jan Brebara to send a copy of the latest version of ReFox and a key via e-mail? I can prove my purchase of ReFox 10 and the timing of that purchase. His absolute refusal to deal with this and similar situations shows a complete ignorance of the value of customer service. I purchased the
>>product once. I may be interested in purchasing future upgrades. But I'll be damned if I am going to purchase an upgrade a week after unknowingly purchasing the previous version.

>>>BTW Xitech are not the authors of Refox. They are only a distributor of Refox and sold the product to their clients and also sold Refox to Hallogram. The author of the product is Jan Brebara how has as of February 2005 ,for the launch of Refox XI, decided to take matters in his own hands and trying to limit the damage caused to his name and his product by Xitech and Hallogram. His site is here http://web.telecom.cz/refox/index-en.html
