hmpf! My windows explorer neatly shows the icons. Did You try with a standard-product like an Excel-File? Maybe the Icon from the File(type) You tried really *is* defective.

To be honest, I sometimes ended up creating 32x32 icons that have the 16x16
image and the rest white. But I don't remember now if the image had to be centered
or in the upper left corner. Anyway, Icons and native VFP always has been a problem
for me. I remember problems with transparency to. Either they were not transparent
or the screen's backcolor came through. Something weird anyway

Yes getting BMP's out of that would be the best solution (could try som GDI+ stuff)
to convert them. However I could imagine problems arising, when it comes to translation
of transparent areas, which BMP's do not support, but Icons do.
