This is interesting. I never made such a list, but let's go down yours, I want to compare. I've omitted the things I also don't have:

>- a DVD player

Why would I want one? My monitor is the same size as my TV (19 inch), so I can play the one DVD I have (Cimino's "Heaven's Gate") on it, if I want.

>- a digital camera

As an old photography buff, I had to have one of these. I was waiting for them to be invented. But I'm really using it - about 3000 shots a year.

>- a Blackberry

What's a Blackberry? Um... never mind.

>- digital cable

Had, tried, cancelled.

>- a photo printer

This is a must if you're a foreigner. The pictures for documents cost $15 per head, and we need about 4 sets a year for this or that. Much cheaper to print your own. Besides, I do need a printer, being a telecommuter.

>- a MP3 player

None of them fancy ipods or whachamacallits, but a CD player capable of. Need it for the car - can't afford to listen to the radio (too many shouting commercial, bad for blood pressure) and don't have the time to copy things to cassettes, which I never really liked anyway. Magnetic tape needs size.

>- an outstanding balance on my VISA card

I don't have a credit card at all. Got two debit ones, period. I don't believe in credit cards, though I do trust the credit card companies... to charge outrageous usury interest as soon as you as much as fart in the wrong direction.
