Thanks for the speedy reply Einar.

I know that if I create a folder under one of the projects in my solution and then click the button to show all files, I do see the folder and the contents of any files in that folder.

I'm in the process of rewriting a home banking web application in .Net. I am constantly opening classic asp and html files from their original locations (not in my project structure). I happened to see the Misc folder and that's why I was using it. I don't want to copy the older files to any folder in my project files. When I saw the option to use the Misc folder in the solution, it's just what I was looking for. The files that show up in the Misc folder are just shortcuts to the original. This just keeps me from jumping all over the place to review the code in the original files.

I guess I'll just have to close and reopen the solution explorer from time to time to have the list sorted to make it a litter easier to locate the file in the Misc folder.

Thanks,
Pat Moran

>Pat,
>At first I had no clue what you were talking about but now I see that there is an option for showing misc files (I have mine turned off, I think that is default).
>The reason I am replying to your post is because I can not see a reason to use the misc folder. I always add my own folders to the solution explorer to separate similar parts of the project. When I add a folder and add files to the folder the files are sorted alphabetically.

Once you open files that are outside of the projects they are automatically added to this folder in the Solution Explorer. Does anyone know how to keep the files sorted within this folder? If you close and reopen the solution, they are then sorted. I can't figure out how to keep them sorted as you are working in the Solution Explorer.
