You're the first person I've ever asked that question of to not say 'hate'. Very good IMO.
I would say fear is the opposite of love. Why? Well, most folks, when they display anger or hate are really afraid. Take a little time and watch people.
For example, here where over the years folks have at times gotten real heated with each other.. Look closely and you'll see fear on all side. The believer who may be afraid of what the non-believer may say that is interpreted as a threat, and visa versa. That's why it has always baffled me when athiests get so angry at god or those who want to display their faith. What are they so afraid of? lol
