That's fair. <s>
I was with John the whole way in understanding his side. Hell, I live his side to some degree, but I'm also realistic in my expectations from "the company." For him to chastise me for saying that anyone who thinks the company is going to take care of them at their own expense is an idiot, is misplaced. I just felt that the other side of that should be put out there as much as all the sympathy his post generated. Life comes at us hard sometimes and the company is not the one we should expect to be our friend at those times. The company is a fair-weather friend at best.

>A very mild rebuke, if that at all. I felt you fairly summed up the company's position but didn't mention John's. This was a failure of the company to meet John's needs not the other way around.

>As for the "strong feelings", by reading John's narrative it's clear he has some himself. My take on it is that the acceptance that his employer was incapable of meeting basic minimums for a decent relationship resulted in a real bummer (another strong feeling) so he very justifiably decided to move on rather than continue in misery (yet another strong feeling).

>Most importantly, he says he's happy with his new job. I hope this rolls over into his personal life.
