Four countries sounds about right, well if not today then someday soon.

There are sixteen European countries that are not members of the EU, twenty-five that are and four pending acceptance. Before you know it China will be a member of the EU, thus reducing the number of Asian countries by one.

Is the EU a precursor to that “One World” thingy?

Just think of the EU as if it were a glob, mushroom farm or horse manure. If it is not everywhere now it soon will be! :)
