Put an MessageBox(VERSION()) after the Select and see what version is showed, also
Put a WAIT WINDOW READWRITE (If everithing is OK on that line VFP must rise an error)
or if you don't want errors put:
WAIT WINDOW VARTYPE(READWRITE) && It must be "U"
