>I was around when these guys were first getting started. I started getting into them again recently and I'm amazed at how good they really were. I still listen in wonderment whenever I drive through a college campus and hear students blaring out Whole Lotta Love or Stairway to Heaven. I can still play most of their best known stuff on guitar, but one of my favorites is Over the Hills and Far Away.

Yes I was around at that time. My night club went from Tamla and Soul to Metal practically overnight, and we all head banged away :-)

Whol lotta love's guitar riff was the basis for the BBC's decade-spanning premier pop show, "Top of the Pops" for more years than I can recall.

Interesting how that era spawned several bands with names of improbable flying objects. Can't remember most now but Iron Butterfly was one. Anyone recall any others?
