Hi,
OK we have proved it is injection from an external source.
SMB = Server message Block, it appears to be a Networking problem.
Search the MSKB articles for SMB http://support.microsoft.com

-Or-

Check this link out http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810907

Try increasing the size of the alpha field to say 50 Chars and see if it captures all the corruption.

These ones take at bit of tracking down, nothing more satisfying that solving the wierd ones.

If you are connected to the internet, check for a DOS attack, I seem to remember a DOS attack causing SMB problems, but it was a few years ago.

>>> Let me know whether it solves the problem.

>Strange thing is now we have character field first we can see "SMB." in field then control characters. It's happened twice in last week and both times "SMB." appears, Character field has not protected any fields, still corrupts to same point.
