Perry, Perry, Perry,

If I didn't work with you and if you weren't my friend, I would be inclined to blast your argument.

No one "leaves" VFP, just as no one leaves COBOL, Ada, ASM, or any other language. Some programmers, by choice, enhance their skill sets with new or existing technologies. Some may choose .Net, some Java, and some may choose to stick with VFP. What's the big deal here? I know a 76 year old woman who is a contract COBOL programmer for Northrop Grumman who has more work than she can handle. Guess why.

Keep in mind that VFP has kept a bunch of us employed at the same company at decent contract rates for a few years now and, as you know, we will have a few more years at minimum. Also remember that this same company has wasted tens of millions of dollars trying to develop Java apps to replace the ones we are enhancing / maintaining. I believe many companies have, are, and will experience similar situations in the medium term. We have seen it before, We are seeing it now, and we will see it again.
