Personally, all the cr*p that happened in the JVP days was the start of the downfall of the UT. Many people were already being forced to learn other tools to remain employable. John was one of the few to discuss alternatives here.

There are some here who are slightly paranoid, to say the least. They see any discussion here of other then VFP as part of the master plan to put foxpro to bed. The funniest comment I ever saw here was the one about "Code". That they started as a VFP mag just to steal the money of VFP developers until they could get the funds to change to a dotnet mag.

If some of these people spent even half the time they spend defending their position studying, they would be far more educated then they are today.

>You should have been around in the pre-twit filter days (over five years ago) when discussions were quite lively. Walter's remarks would have been considerd light-weight.

>What bothers me is that JVP was banned a year ago for "light-weight" comments he made to (amongst other people) Walter, for comments like "you have zero credibility", "you don't know what you're talking about", etc. IMO, Walter's comments about John were quite similar.

>I don't agree with banning (except maybe for Bill Sanders), and I wish that JVP were still up here. Sure, he was sarcastic and harsh, and I've had many debates with him about getting a point across in ways that are neither sheepish nor harsh - but between the meanness was some real truth about things.
