Well, if users need to use this particular app I am working on I just pop a warning if js is not enabled on the browser. Fortunately for me this is going to work on a controlled environment, but it would be easy to set a hidden control that verifies that the js validation ran, then the server would only have to check the value of that field before validating on the server side. The problem that I have encountered is with the postbacks and the smartnavigation (it is crazy!!!), so I decided to put as much as I can on the client side.
It is also quite easy to do this validator thing using Dreamweaver, since it does allow you to insert the tags for .NET validators right there, plus the designer is way better than in VS 2003.
