I was in Monterrey, CA in October 1989. I was standing in the center of a military dining facility with all glass walls. Above me were serving utensils hanging from the ceiling. Never again I know when a hurricane is coming and if it is CAT4 or higher I will evacuate. I have sat through hurricanes that took hours to pass and was pretty scared from the sounds. Yet that is still preferable to an earthquake. The only idea I had that the earthquake was going to hit was a feeling of wooziness and lack of balance about 15 seconds before it struck...
