I have a friend who works in an attorneys office. She attends many conferences and knows almost all of the other attorneys here in town. She asked for some help automating their office recently (I posted a thread here looking for small attorney office management software recently) but before she called me she asked around to see what everyone is using. In all cases an office manager makes the decisions. Surprisingly, there is a market for that software because almost all of the small offices (2-10 attorneys) are still doing everything the manual way. Consider that as an option - develop a program to help manage a small attorney's office and then market it via conventions and scheduling demos at the small offices. To get the information, you could consider spending a few days in an office and tracking their entire process - offer it to that office as an incentive when it's done if necessary.
