>Thanks all - The google search was very helpful. With regard to your question the switch reports that the single port is approxiately 40-50% of bandwidth (1Gb). I have always been told that the max for a port was 40-50% but more importantly the switch peaks to 100% often. So I'm thinking that I need more bandwidth. Is there some other way to get more bandwidth? Is that the right question?

That's a lot of traffic. It's great your switch can give you that kind of information. Presumably you've also checked out other basic stats like CPU utilization, RAM usage etc. so you're not hitting the wall there (or likely to do so in the near future).

If the server is supporting multiple apps, another possibility would be to move some of them to another server. Of course, if it's a single app that's generating all this traffic that option won't be available.
