>>>>>That's true, but it's a rarity that all things are ever equal. Talent will out in the NBA regardless of size. And really, I think that was the original point. Since it's rare that all things are equal, you pretty much never have a 'black and white' situation. Usually just shades of gray.

>>>Yeah, look at the various stiffs employed around the NBA over the years just because they're 7' something.
>>
>>But the 'stiffs' never lasted. Only those with some real talent stayed around. Same with the short guys. Calvin Murphy didn't make the hall of fame by being 7' tall. Muggsy Bogues was only 5'3" but stayed around for years. In fact the first time I saw him on a court before a game, I thought to myself, "Oh, look, somebody brought their kid. Isn't that cute."

Well, he came close to double digit rebounds a couple of times. Shawn Bradley is not a great example, I must admit. I think they only kept him around on a 'just in case' basis. Let's face it, they kept him around, but they didn't really play him all that much.
Bol started right out blocking shots well and not much else, but over time, he turned into a pretty good center. I have to believe that somebody saw the potential in him early on.
