Basically that would be beneficial... but you don't need to change genscrn(), if I remember well. You'd better go through your scx files, open each and scan for !empty(valid) and validtype=1 (likewise for when etc), and insert the #name directive in each memo containing a snippet. If this works, the snippet names would be welded and the source control would at least show there's no difference between the new and previous version.

Though, take this with a grain of salt - I had my own generator, and my snippet names were always {scxname}_nnn, where nnn was the snippet's ordinal number while generating. So I never used any generator directives - my generator didn't need them.
