John,

I have made some small efforts to get something organized, but to date it has met with all the enthsiasm of a hornet at a picnic - I hear "go away" or I hear nothing.

I attribute this to many things, not the least of which is the FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) permeating the VFP community. It sure looks like people are afraid to be in the least bit critical in case MS takes unkindly to things.
I also attribute it to people like yourself who, unerringly, point out why it is good for MS, but all the while ignore the other side of the equation. You and a few others have succeeded in convincing most that it is really MS' best interests which must be served, own-company's playing a secondary role. You have succeeded in establishing the theory that what's good for MS is good for us. What it really should be, and IS in any other area of commerce, is "what's good for the customer is good for MS"!

Overall MS is a great company. But guess what - they have screwed up badly with VFP. We all saw what happened when Ashton-Tate screwed up with dBase IV and WP screwed up with WordPerfect for Windows. Those were "accidents" - neither set out to purposely destroy their major product. The fate of VFP is no accident.

So how would YOU recommend that some "direction" for MS as regards VFP be organized?

Cheers,

Jim N
