I hate to give you bad news but getting this info can take a very long time especally if you are doing inventory for something as complex as wholesale food. My app is for auto parts and paint jobbers (wholesale) and it is an incredebly complex area. I would guess that wholesale food would be even worse. When you are talking inventory you must also do purchase orders and AP invoices otherwise there is no way to get the inventory in in a controlled manner. Of course that leads to a whole Vendor mantainance app. You need to indentify where the inventory came from. How many cost and retail prices do you need to carry per item. They are going to sell an item at different prices depending on the relationship with the customer. And it goes on from there...

I would suggest that you 1st talk to the client and then go see as many wholesale inventory control programs as you can find. Vendors that sell the mid range accounting apps often have public demos you can attend but even then they mostly skim over the inventory. Mostly, to do it right, you would have to spend several years learning the subject.
