That's why I never installed it! My guess is that a some point MS has to start working with Linux. As more and more countries start moving to the free product it will leave MS in a US only sell. As more and more States and cities demand open standards they will have to play ball here (in the US) too.
I don't want to see MS lose. But it is very hard to support a MS when the two money makers (the OS and office) are offered free. What MS thinking will improve productivty turns out to be more complex by 10 fold. Setting up Office to talk to everything is not easy. But worse yet - the users don't want it. Just yesterday I had a client ask "why can't I have my old outlook back - without the business connection".
So you wonder! Open office does 98% of everything Office does. Linux appears to be a very stable OS platform and free. Why buy MS? Yesterday I setup RealBasic to access a Postgres database and made forms etc.. to do a simple lookup and allow adding of customers in about five hours. First time I used it. Starting to look good.
