That bothers me, too. The real questions that should be asked are, "is it true", "who is responsible", and probably a few more. That reminds me of a situation when videos from Iraq were shown; one of the first reactions from the top was to forbid video-cameras in the prisons. Destroying the evidence seems more important than solving the problem.
