I am sorry to hear about your daughter's experience, it must have not been pleasant I guess.
My questions are,
Does what happen to her mean that definitely the world 'hates' Americans?
Did she feel she was discriminated just for being American, or it was related to the events going on for the past 4 years?
I say, expect some aprehension and be ready to respond with the right answers, of course don't expect being popular if you support the cause that makes those people angry, but from that to hate...there is a long way.
People who hate Americans hijack planes and crash them into buildings, killings thousands of innocents. That's hate (among other bad things).
Everyday I hear many Americans talk about how much they disagree with present US goverment policies and actions, and is remarkable the coincidence with the arguments of people from 'the rest of the world'.
