>>Evan said that Podheretz is biased, and therefore his conclusions are suspect.

Yes, after you said his opinion piece should be required reading.

>>My point is that of course Podheretz is biased - and so is Evan. Does that mean Evan's conclusions are also suspect?

As I said, Evan is not quoting his own opinions as authoritative enough to be "required reading".

>>Podheretz is excessively devoted to the ideals of politico-economic freedom, religious freedom, and defending a nation against aggressors. If that's biased, I'm sure he'd wear that label proudly.

To be "excessively" anything is by definition excessive. ;-) As for the rest, I think most visitors to this forum would like to think they believe in politico-economic freedom, religious freedom and defending a nation...
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
