>>>So, your point with this is, that of the 212,000 in ther army there are 0 who actually want to be in the army?

>>No

>So you're saying it does not conflict with reality to say that there are Iraqis who want to join the army to provide security to their people?

It's your convoluted terminology. If you mean "do I find it feasible/possible that some people join the army to secure their homeland?" then YES - alright? I'm not saying they're ALL just looking for a job.

Look. There was a long, multi-week docu on the telly here, following the fortunes of several British Army units, during the post-war to hand-over period, in and around Basra, including the Red Caps, training the Iraqi cops. We're talking "in-bedded" journalism and hand-held cams. I watched the near chaos around the recruiting stations, the men rejected for various reasons, their training, etc. I got some insight into the quality/quantity of recruits, and their motivation. We got to know the British COs, the grunts, the officers, heard their comments.

Also, like I said, I've been in and among the people in Egypt, a similar country, listened to their tales of how they make ends meet, realising that they don't have stocked ice-boxes at home, and many live hand-to-mouth. I know something about how some people, without a social security system like we enjoy, will often take any job to survive/thrive.

I can't portray to you all this "evidence". Let's say an informed opinion.

Never objected to that. I refer you to my first answer.

>But if we're going to have a productive conversation, we should hope that the claims being made are meaningful and that you'd be willing to support a claim that there is disagreement over.

Ever heard the expression "I imagine" as in "I imagine there are many just joining up for the job security" (no pun intended)

And "productive conversation" - you're like a police dog on a leash, snapping at everyone's legs. You read a comment, interpret it in a negative way, then bite back with only conclusion.

Now give it a rest, huh, Mike?
