John,

>>>I think God has been much more prevalent in other administrations like George Washington's and Abe Lincolns. I will admit He is needed more today than ever though.
>>
>>Those were a long time ago, and I truly don't know and don't even want to spend time checking. Anyways I'd like you to remember that the united states were created specifically as a secular entity and that in the government itself there is no place for religion (e.g. 1st admendant) as a basis to make policy.

>I recommend you do a little further reading. Our founders came because they wanted religious freedom, not religion that was dictated by the Church of England.

Isn't that what I was saying ??

>There are many references to God throughout our history from the Declaration of Independence to the prayers that are said before every session of the US Supreme Court and the House and Senate. If you take God out of government, you leave only the devil! The original goal of the founding fathers wasn't to remove God, it was to remove a state religion.

We have taken out god out our government to a very large extend. We resisted and refuted someone from our government suggesting that we should force schools to teach intelligent design. Are we a devil government? Well, I guess I have been doomed. AFAIK, but correct me if I'm wrong, the declaration of independance does indicate a secular government: a speration between church and government. There is nothing in that statment that indicates that GOD should have a prominent role in your government is it seems to have now.

Someone that believes in Yin/Yan would say that evil and good are always in balance. Therefor you might conclude that if you take God out of the government, you'll take out the devil as well. It seems a good start. Also what you define as an action of god (invading iraq) could easily be regarded as an action of the devil by other who severly suffer from decision.

You'll have to face the facts: There is no evil if there is no good and there certainly is no devil if their is no God.

Religion on this level is only a way of power. Power that easily is abused because nobody wants to argue the word of god. May I remind you the problems of sexual abuse in many American churches. May I remind you of the financial abuse of some of the TV-fathers. (Refer to "Jesus he knows me - genesis" and "Satelite - The hooters) and cheating (people waiting in line to visit the show are smartly unknowingly questioned for information that the presenter could use to make an impression that God was telling him that a certain man was suffering from a certain illness and that he will be blessed). Do you think that the terror by islamic terrorists are much different from for example the spanish inquisition or the cruasaded hundreds of years ago? Most of those huge churches are just businesses. Their product is god. So much for ethics. The smart just want to keep other others dump.

Walter,
