>I don't understand why the President and Vice-President and most others in the administration can make any kind of issue about this, yet they seem to be succeeding! What am I missing here?

>A very large majority of the Senate voted in favour of giving the President the power to go to war with Iraq if/when conditions warranted, based on the information they were given. That information came from "the Administration", as all such information does.

Not all came from the Admin. Much of it came from other governments, France, Germany, GB, Russia, etc. Some came from our own intelligence agencies in testimony before Congressional intelligence committees without being so-called "filtered" by the Admin. For our Congress to now claim this was "filtered" by the Admin would take one helluva conspiracy. The other choices are they are quite stupid and/or were duped. Both choices would not bode well for their re-election except, fortunately for them, most voters are generally stupid, gullible, don't care and/or ill-informed.

>Now many of those same Senators who voted in favour of giving the President that power - mostly democrats but some republicans also - are saying that the information on which they based their decision to vote in the affirmative was not only "flawed", but appears to have been carefully selected, cherry-picked and included, even when in many cases insiders warned that some of it was not credible. It may be crass to call it lying, but it has all the appearances of lies.
>So what does it matter if the Senators voted on the same material that they are now calling fabricated? Does that mean that the Senators are stupid or does it mean that they were duped or...?
