Using VFP8.0 or below version, the output in DMPs is satisfactory and we didn't complain. With VFP9.0 it became worst. The words are hard to read and the length of paper is seemingly ignored.

XFRX renders the same output because it uses the same methodology and report engine.

>Hi Jess,
>>The problem with Dot Matrix printers is just one of the glaring bugs known as listed in SP1 document. And if they say it's by design then there must be a problem with the design in the first place coz other reporting tools don't have similar problem.

>Well as I said before, whole issue with RD/FRX printing on DMPs is long standing. It was NEVER satisfactory. Not in FPD2.6 , not in VFP5 or 6.
>With VFP7 & 8 I did not try as I am gonna jump straight to VFP9.

>Way I see it, in this area you loose nothing, as you did not have much to begin with. If you set RB-80, you got all your frx>dmp 'advantages' back...

>It was something to scream-complain 10 years back if not more,
>but nowdays ... Now everybody find their way(s) arround, so
>most probably nobody even bother sending anything in this respect to M$.
>
>>
>>Then that said, our claim that REPORT Writer as one of the major VFP9 incorporated feature will mean nothing by people who are using dot matrix? That it is designed only for those who can afford to use expensive graphical printers?

>RB-90 uses GDI+, what do you expect to see on DMPs ? WYSIWYG maybe ?
>Did you ever by mistake send regular report with graphics on dotMP ?
>Was it any better ?
>
>But you GAIN on other reporting aspects.
>
>In my (VFP6) reporting books, ReportDesigner & FRX are just
>covering dummy presentation layer - of whole reporting scenario.
>(Part of it that is, as we hv to report to other formats don't we ?)
>
>There4 I expect to improve my reporting in this respect with VFP9.
>BTW, there is also XFRX out there :)
>
>So think creative & positive+++

>Cheers :)
