That's because you are SOUTH of border. :o) Mostly it's the teens eating their fries with creamy italian - they do get strange looks from the staff when they ask for salad dressing with their fries! Lately they are dipping fried chicken in butter (not melted - you have to smear it on). I guess you have to make it as unhealthy as possible :o) I'm still trying to get my daughter to eat whole grain bread. You'd think I'd have asked her eat dirt from her expression. One of her friends will eat whole grain bread though so I haven't given up yet. By the way, I spend a couple of days a month in Florence and it amazes me that for the size of the town there is still not a single expresso coffee shop that I'm aware of! Maybe a money making opportunity for someone resourceful.

>>No no no. For Southerners, grits are ONLY eaten with butter, salt and pepper. (Yuck) I break all the rules when I eat mine like cream of wheat with milk and sugar! :o) Here French fries are eaten with creamy italian salad dressing (I eat mine with mayo - once again I'm wrong) or ketchup. Of course those Carolinians are probably just strange. :0)

>Hey, watch it. :-) I've lived in SC all my life. Yes, I like my grits with butter, salt, and pepper, and it ain't yuck. :-) My wife and kids like cheese in their grits, and a fair amount of people in these parts like 'em that way, too. I've never seen anyone eat fries with creamy italian. It's mostly ketchup and occasionally malt vinegar. In fact, I actually like creamy italian on a salad, but it's hard to find around here. Most restaurants don't offer it any more.
