I was in East Berlin in the mid 80s. I did not have coffee while I was there though because it was expensive and hard to come by. I was given a few bottles of vodka though. :o) I was in a few other places as well but I never did try the coffee during that time. My favorite coffee is actually the coffee sold and served in Germany (what used to be the west) and the coffee from Panama and Costa Rica. However watching the production of coffee almost convinced me to stop drinking it in Panama! :o)
>>OK, I'll agree with you there (having enjoyed English tea). Remember though, there is also nothing worse than coffee made by the English!

>You haven't been to Eastern Europe during the Warsaw Pact times. For my taste, Romania had the worst coffee, then USSR, and Hungary was close even in '95, but at least you could order "dupla presszo" (double espresso) to have a decent quarter-cup of coffee.

>Haven't tried the British coffee, though. I may change my mind.
