>Yup...It's called Kentucky Fried Chicken because Col. Sanders was a real Kentucky Colonel and the recipe came from there, but when he decided to franchise, the first people to ante up were from Utah...hence the world's first KFC. It even says so on the sign. It's about a mile from my house. They recently tore down the original building from the 50s and put up a new building, complete with museum.

I think I've read it somewhere but can't find it anymore - is it true that the state of Kentucky forbids the use of its name on KFC's operation, and that that's the reason why they're not Kentucky Fried Chicken anymore?

I've seen them trying to promote "Kitchen Fresh Chicken", but the campaign seems to have petered out after a week or two.
