Naw, David, I don't think you're "stuck". As a matter of fact, most of my reports are generated via SQL-SELECTs. Let me qualify that. All of my summary reports are generated by SQL-SELECTs. Certain listings, however, do use the DE.
The thought was that if the DE could developed, especially visually, independently of the form or report, it might not only provide additional ease of development, but would abstract it at the same time, provding additional flexibility as well.
Just a thought.
