I had the good fortune of growing up on the South Side of Chicago, across the street from a place named the Picadilly Hotel (Hyde Park Blvd. & Blackstone Ave.). In the late '50's and early '60's that's where the White Sox housed the players, coaches and their families during the season. So when I was a kid, not only did I get to meet a lot of my heros, but play with their kids as well.

That's a great story! I forgot to mention that in high school, my hockey team played against another local high school team with a player named Craig Conroy. He now plays for the St. Louis Blues and is up for an award as best defensive offensemen. Hailing from upstate New York, I also played quite a few times in the 1980 Olympic Rink at Lake Placid, including a state championship. Now that was cool!
