And all of that is because we have civil liberties and previous generations have fought for them. I'm guessing from your name that you or your parents were born somewhere in Asia and perhaps your skin is darker than someone of European origin. It's not that long ago that those factors would have meant that you couldn't go anywhere you want. The government (especially the courts, which conservatives love to malign) has played in big role in reducing (I don't think we can say eliminating yet) roadblocks for non-whites, non-Christians, non-men, and others.
