Well, I can tell you this about the damaged file. It is the same as the real file though the first 58202 records (based on a casual inspection). Then there are three records of mostly zeroes. Then nothing. The real file has 931247 records.

So it is not some errant Excel file etc. One could not create this file with VFP because two of the final records have a zero primary (candidate) key. Besides no one here uses VFP except for me and my partner.

I think it was some kind of network-server glitch.

I'm certainly not going to be accusing anyone! :-)

I think all the cursors are already going to the tmpfiles folder on each local disk.
