One of my most memorable concert experiences was seeing the Kinks at the Rainbow Palace in London. (A dump, a total dump, which was a surprise to me). The Kinks were not a punk band but for whatever reason punk fans were preponderant that night. Mohawks, piercings, ripped T shirts and jeans, even a mosh pit in front of the stage. Perhaps overencouraged by too many lagers beforehand with the coworkers I went with, I was right in there moshing. One punkette was coming on to me. She thought my corduroy sport jacket was so heinous it was cool. She wanted me to come home with her -- "It's just me, me mum, and me dad." Oh, right, that was exactly what I wanted, for the U.S. Embassy to claim my body at 3 a.m. I was wasted but not THAT wasted. A memorable evening. Fortunately, I am older and wiser now. Somewhat.
