>>Of course I meant that. Even though I live on an island I still know what a continent is. If Mike nit-pickingingly meant that I suggested that the COUNTRY of America is a continent, then he's wrong, as there IS no such country - it's the USA.

You just reminded me of one of the least memorable episodes in my daughters' youth: the Lice Weeks. They were about 5 and 7 at the time. Someone brought it into school and it spread like wildfire. This literally went on for two or three weeks. Painstakingly examining their hair with a nit comb and a bright light twice a day. Increasingly desperate treatments, starting with all the OTC medicines at the drugstore, then a fairly pricey prescription, then mayonnaise (that was disgusting), then kerosene. The kerosene was recommended by our pediatrician, who said it is the standard remedy for head lice in Israel. Some of the boys' moms got together and decided to shave their heads. (The Hair Club For Men, I called them). My wife caught it, with consequent quarantining of all concerned, if you know what I mean. It was a complete nightmare.

One of my coworkers and his wife had their first baby last weekend. I congratulated them and mentioned nothing about head lice, or the attitudes of 16 year olds. LOL
