>A lot of our workstations are having this issue. When you pull up a dialog box to switch directories, the box pops up quick, but when you click in the "look in" part or click the little arrow to switch to a different directory, it takes like about a whole minute before it pulls it up to switch. If you pick one you can then change to others doing it again and it is ok, but when you have not done it for a period of time, it does the delay again. Does anyone know why this does this and anything I can set to make it quit doing this?

A client of mine had something similar, very slow response in the Open File dialog in Word 2000, on Windows XP machines only. W2K and W98 were fast.

Don't know if it applies in your case, but the solution to that problem was http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328890 (set TcpAckFrequency to 1, from the default 2).
