>>How does the permission of a Sikh school kid to wear a knife at school infringe on your rights in any way? There's some possibility that he may do harm with it, but then that applies to just about anything anywhere at any time. Cars, baseball bats, plastic bags, a cup of hot coffee, a string or rope, paper, shoes etc could all be used to harm others.

>But, none of the above (except maybe a car or BB bat) enter the body, cut vital organs and kill you. Besides, you can't take a car into the school building, and bb bats are there already. So kind of a spurious argument. I can't be sure now if you're pro or anti the carrying of the daggers.

I thought I was pretty clear about my position... I believe the Supreme Court of Canada made the correct decision in permitting a school kid to carry a religiously-mandated special form of knife at school.

It infringes on no one else's rights, and if 'freedom from fear' is an argument then the things I mentioned ought to be banned from schools too and most anywhere else. You never know when a kid might put a plastic bag over someone's head. In fact, I understand it's something kids actually do to themselves today because of the buzz they get at about passing-out time. They use ropes and others' hands for the same purpose too, apparently.
