If you are getting at my syntax, I can only sympathise with you and the rest of the UT members who have to read what I write ... :).

> The evolution of my product is well defined as a 3rd generation FP app, with the step to VFP also being one to client server.

... but here I did meant VFP as a product. Who am I to comment on _your_ product :). You seem quite enthusiastic about it and envy you.

> Plus I only presented this as a conversion project comparison for John see that a good deal of planning and rewriting is required in taking an app from 2.6 to 5.0 if you want to improve the app's capabilities, but you can still salvage existing work in some situations.

This is where my experience differs from yours. My app works very well in DOS. While upgrading it to VFP I was surprised that I litterally had to rewrite every single line ..., that is not necessarily a VFP problem, but it _is_ a surprise no less.

And my conclusion of that, and we want to give John an objective and multifaceted view about this, do we not, is that with the work involved, and the marginality of the amount of code that can be reused, that John might be well inspired to consider other languages/environments, given the uncertainties of VFP as product in the form that it is today.

I may be wrong, but I detect some irritation here. I'm sorry if that is the case, I certainly did not want to say anything negative directed towards your work or your person. But John should know that there are VFP skeptics in this forum and that they have the right to express themselves. Democracy they used to call it.

> That's what nice about having the corporate budget behind ya!

Roxanne, so did I. I stopped the development because I did not want to come up with a product that is outdated (excuse, me that is written in a language/environment that is outdated) before it goes into production. And that is the sad prospect we face these days.

I, for one am not betting the farm on the survival of Foxpro in its present form, and I think it is my duty to say so.

Hope we can remain friends afterall.

Marc
