Serbian oral tradition has a lot of redundant terms - in the epic poetry it never says "three years", it's always "three years of days". In the case at hand, it's probably to emphasize that there's no grain left in that hay... or make that "straw", my translator got confused. You know, just like the actor said "confuse the curtain, I got pulled down".
