>I had some acquaintances when I was in the military, who fought side by side with Turkish soldiers in Korea. The Turks had two classes of soldier – volunteer and drafted. They were paid differently. Volunteer soldiers were treated harshly.

Yes method is same yet. Who want to be drafted he/she must give an exam. But who don't want to be drafted whoever if he even the ministers son he -must serve- army.

>The Turk’s were very good at night patrol. They would slit the throat of the North Korean or Chinese soldiers, and cut off both ears. The ears of the dead enemy were strung and worn around the neck by the Turkish soldiers as a badge of honor.

I can't honor these type soldiers. It's so terrible.

>A volunteer in the Turkish army at this time did not make enough money to buy a pack of cigarettes. Sergeants would beat them for any reason. Again, drafted men were not treated in this manner. Have things changed with the Turkish army. If so, how?

Formerly volunteer soldiers were treated so harshly. Now only treated harshly...
They can buy cigarettes now. Which case is better?.. Cigarettes kill... :)
