Try renaming win.com to win.cqm.
This usually fools Win95 into thinking there is NO Win95 on the computer. It still keeps your existing software and icons, however.

It won't take me as far as the option menu, but bombs before it even shows the splash screen. It says that something in my system has changed and wants me to restart, regardless if I had just restarted.
