A cell within the grid will be *touched* at a certain spot and that will take the user to more information about that particular topic. The grid can be paged up or paged down via two arrow buttons on the screen beside the grid, but I don't want an individual record to be selected (or at least SEEN as being select by the user). That's the ultimate reason I don't want an individual record to be selected. Touch screen applications give a whole new perspective on application design, unfortunately.

u may don't want the whole record to be selected while the user views the grid but you (I think) should want tthe particular cell to apear
selected once it was selected
when I push a button I expect it to be pushed and it doesn't matter if I use a mouse a keyboard or a finger to do that
